Bainfield Bowling & Social Club Rules and Regulations for INDOOR Competitions

(Revised January 2007 & February 2008)

1)             COMPETITION ENTRY

All Players taking part must be members of Bainfield Bowling & Social Club unless otherwise stipulated. It is a condition of entry that EVERY fixture must be fulfilled. In all matches the Rink Skip will be required to complete and return to the Indoor Office or by entry on the notice boards as necessary ALL names of members playing in that rink and will be required to fulfil all the fixtures of that seasons play AND PAY COSTS.

All games must be played precisely as specified in the Competition Timetable. Where a team is incomplete at the time when a game is due to start, the skip must accept the first substitute players available in the first instance from the Substitute Black Board by the Indoor Office, then from any Pool Players present in the Stadium and legally available.

2)             COMPETITION & RINK ENTRY FEES

Must be paid BEFORE the commencement of the competition or the commencement of the game.

3)               DEFAULTERS

Are not allowed to play in any following games until the default monies are paid. (Indoor AGM1998) The named person in charge of the rink is responsible for the rink fees/ entry fee of each member of the rink. It is also their responsibility to ensure that no Non Eligible persons play in his rink. A rink, which includes a non-eligible member in a game, will forfeit the points and shots scored in that game and the rink will be disqualified.

4)             GAME FAILURE

If a Rink/Triple/Pair/Single fails to fulfil a fixture the Player/s is/are liable to pay their own rink etc fees AND THEIR OPPONENTS. *

5)             RATE OF RINK FEES

Will be agreed by the membership attending at the Annual General Meeting to which ALL Members of Bainfield Bowling & Social Club may attend.

The current fees will be shown on the Indoor Notice Board and in the Indoor Office. The Rule is- "IF YOU PLAY YOU PAY"

Responsible Person. The Named person will be the responsible person of that rink in all aspects. Competition Timetables will be posted on the Notice Boards at least 8 days in advance and will be the only notification for the Competition and must be complied with. Contesting Skips are responsible for Rink Fees and the Players in their team.

6)             SUBSTITUTES USED IN THE EVENING LEAGUES & TRIPLES *

May list their name and telephone number on the provided Pool List to be contacted if required to play as a substitute. Substitutes attending the club for the opportunity to play must list their name on the blackboard provided at the Indoor Office in order of attendance. A team having a player short must play any available substitute in the order of the above listing. Substitutes may play in the same rink twice only, on the third substitution they must decline or join that rink and must not play in any another rink in that competition. Substitutes playing must play in the following format: -

Pairs...as Lead, Triples...as Lead and Fours...as Lead or Second

If both rinks are playing 3 players both teams must quarter their scores at the end of the game.

7)             SUBSTITUTION - AMOUNT OF GAMES PERMITTED.

Limited to maximum substitutions this applies to both Ladies & Gents: -

Evening League (Monday to Friday) Open to Ladies and Gentlemen. (AGM May 2006)

League September - December 15 Games.

League January - April 15 Games.

Sunday Triples —15 Games.

Ladies League Cup - September - December

Ladies League — January - April

TEAMS MUST COMPETE IN KNOCK OUT COMPETITIONS WITH FULL RINKS OTHERWISE THEY WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO COMPETE.

Two points will be awarded for a win and one point for a draw. If there is a Tie for any of the four top places, the team with the greater number of SHOTS UP will be declared the winner. In the event of equality in both points and shots, the result of their League game will be the deciding factor. In the unlikely event that teams are still tied a play-off will be arranged.

If a previous session has delayed the commencement of the next session, after a period of 5 Minutes, the responsible persons of both rinks should notify to the person in charge of the Indoor Office of the delay.

8)             LENGTH OF THE GAME

Each game will consist of a maximum of a nominated number of ends or a time limit normally: -

(Rinks 2 Hours or 15 ends)

(Pairs 2 Hours or 15 ends)

(Triples 2 Hours or 15 ends)

(Singles 21 shots or 2 hours or as indicated by the Indoor Committee).

A bell will be sounded 15 minutes prior to the end of each session when one more end will be played.

An end will be deemed to have started when the mat has been properly laid and the Jack delivered from the leading player's hand.

If the Jack has been legally sent before the bell has been sounded then that end will be deemed to be the

Second Last End.

Last End if burnt will be replayed once only.

9)             PERIOD OF GRACE

5 MINUTES will be allowed for a full team to appear and the match will then be played to the shortened period. If after 5 minutes a team is not on the rink to play, the opponents will be declared the winners and be awarded TWO POINTS AND 8 SHOTS.

10)            PLAYERS NAMES (INCLUDING SUBSTITUTES)

All rinks (Fours) must list a minimum of 4 or a maximum of 6 players in the team and submit the list to the Indoor Office. (Indoor AGM 1998)

All Triples (Threes) must list a minimum of 3 or a maximum of 4 players in the team and submit the list to the Indoor Office. (Indoor AGM 1998)

In the event of players wishing to change teams this MUST be done prior to the commencement of the competition.

The Names of all players taking part in each game must be recorded on the scorecard and the card deposited in the box provided at the Indoor Office. Substitutes must be named and recorded as SUB on the scorecard.

Each Skip is responsible for the correct marking of the Scorecard and that it is SIGNED. Cards not completed correctly with the names of the team and any substitute indicated as such or showing an incorrect score will be retained until corrected.

11)            KNOCKOUT COMPETITIONS

Mixed Fours Competitions will consist of Two Men & Two Ladies.

The players playing in the first game will be the recognised team. Substitute rules apply thereafter.

Substitutes playing in the Knockout Competitions can only substitute in further rounds of that competition if substituting in a winning rink.

If an original member of the team is unavailable to play a substitute can pay Lead or Second. However, if the team qualify for the next round the original member substituted in the earner game can return to their agreed position.

K.O. Competitions - Any substitute playing in a winning team is allowed to take part in the particular competition they substitute for. If they are in the losing team they will no longer take part in that competition.

12)            PAIR'S COMPETITIONS

Both Players are to be named upon entry and be named on the draw sheet. In the event of a tie an extra end/s will be played to determine a winner.

13)            SINGLES COMPETITIONS APPLIES TO BOTH LADIES & GENTS *

 The last EIGHT of the Scottish Indoor Singles will play first to 21 shots and not be time limited. (Indoor AGM1998)

14)            CASUAL / BOUNCE GAMES

Member/s and their guest/s may have the use of rinks if available and pay the appropriate fee to the Indoor Office or the Main Bar before play commences

15)            BOOKED RINKS*

Available Rinks may be booked in advance and the appropriate rink fee charges (minimum 6 players).

 

16)            UMPIRES

Any person willing to carry out this duty and be agreed by both Skips may answer a call for an umpire. All players must move away from the Head and await the umpire's decision. He shall measure any shots in dispute and all questions as to the distance of the mat from the jack and whether the jack or bowls are in play. ANY DECISION MADE BY THAT UMPIRE WILL BE FINAL.

17)            DISPUTES OR PROTESTS

Arising in or after the course of a game must in the first instance be notified to the member on duty in the Indoor Office, and be confirmed in writing WITHIN 48 HOURS to the Indoor Match Secretary citing all persons involved. The decision of the Indoor Committee will be final.

18)            CANCELLED/ POSTPONED GAMES

Will only be granted where one or more players in a rink are representing Bainfield in an Official Competition or attending the Presentation of Prizes of their Outdoor Club which must be notified in writing to the Indoor Match Secretary at least TWO weeks prior to that date) or in the event of a family bereavement.

No cancellations will be given for attending a club's AGM.

The Postponed / Cancelled Game will be replayed (if necessary) as arranged by the Indoor Match Secretary date and times will be notified on the Notice Boards 8 Clear Days before. In exceptional circumstances a game may be arranged within the 8 days provided that all parties are in agreement

Notice of Cancellation/Amendments of Games. By the Indoor Secretary / Committee, 8 clear days.

By the Player/s, for Presentation of Prizes or Annual Dance or Official Representation of Bainfield -8 Clear Days.

19)            MOBILE PHONES

Must be switched off in the Indoor Stadium. Should anyone require their mobile phone, (as in case of an emergency,) they must contact a club official before entering the stadium. (Indoor Meeting 02/10/2000).

20)           NO SMOKING or the CONSUMPTION of FOOD is allowed in the Bowling Stadium.

21)                  PROPER REGULATION BOWLING SHOES MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES & MEMBERS ARE REQUESTED TO REFRAIN FROM RUNNING ON THE CARPET.

22)           DRESS CODE

Members & Visitors SMART ATTIRE must be worn at all times of play on the Indoor Carpet. Examples of dress considered inappropriate are T. Shirts, Shell Suits, Track Suits, Sports Shirts as in Football Colours and Jeans. Dress Jeans are acceptable Failure to comply will result in withdrawal of the right to play.

23)           WITHDRAWING TEAMS

When a team withdraws from the League and/or Sunday Triples after its commencement all the other teams in that section will be awarded 2 Points and 8 Shots inclusive of all games previously played.

24)           NATIONAL COMPETITIONS *

LADIES RULE: If a lady member is drawn to play against a full time working lady they will be required to play on a Saturday or Sunday or if there are rinks available during the week in the evening.

25)           TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP *

Will comprise the following —

The winners of the Singles (Gent or Lady), Mixed Pairs, Mixed Triples and Mixed Fours will represent Bainfield and if any of these players are unavailable the Runners Up must be asked to play in the first instance.

EXCEPT FOR THE ABOVE REGULATIONS, THE RULES ADOPTED BY THE SCOTTISH INDOOR BOWLING ASSOCIATION, GOVERNING BODY WELL APPLY.
